Tandy Lau is a New York City-based journalist currently covering public safety for Harlem's New York Amsterdam News. 

The Los Angeles-native graduated with B.A.'s in Journalism and Asian American Studies from California State University Northridge and an M.S. in Journalism from Columbia University. 

He specializes in covering issues on communities of color, for communities of color. Tandy currently reports on how policing, wrongful convictions and city jail conditions impact Black New Yorkers.
